New Post: When debugging VC6 code from within VS2015, "Microsoft Visual Studio Delay Notification" icon appears in the system tray and VS2015 becomes frozen.

Hi Owen,

I managed to solve this problem by a number of workarounds and I'm not sure which one solved the issue. But my guess is that, it was trying to load Microsoft Symbols and since the computer did not have access to Internet, it went frozen.

I'll put more info in case I found more clues.

Thanks and apologize for posting this.

Kind Regards,
Masih

New Post: Why does Daffodil for VS2013 require an install of VS2010 ?

I note from the project home page that Daffodil will work happily with VS2013, but requires VS2010 also to be present. Please can you give an outline of why this is ? And whether you would be able to arrange to remove this restriction.

Some months ago I installed Daffodil on two PCs that already had both, and it has worked happily with both, so I didn't notice the issue. Last week I tried installing it on a system that only had VS2013 (indeed that had only just been installed) and it wouldn't work. I then noticed the note about requiring VS2010. I would prefer not to need to install it if there is a way around the issue.

Regards,
Richard.

Installing VS 2010 is the only (legal) way to install the v100 toolset. I'm afraid there is no getting around that requirement.

Hi,

I ported Visual C++ project in to VS 2010 and it compiles correctly and running smoothly.

But I am getting intelli sense errors in the error list. And when I try to use Go to Definition function, it does not navigate to relevant function, IDE present me with Find Symbols dialogue box containing all the function listings. How can I solve this ?

Can you confirm which version of Visual Studio 2005 I need to install to get this to work? The registry keys are different between the VS versions, and daffodil does not support them all.

VS 2005 Professional includes the C++ build tools and is known to work. I can't vouch for any other flavors.

Hi,
i had installed the following Version Visual Studio (6.0, 2010, 2015, 2017) and i want to debug a simple "Hello World" in VS2017.
If i start the Debugger i receive the error Message "binary was not built with debug information".
I knew the Problem from 2015, there i had to configure like [discussion:654718] but i didn't find the entry Enable "Use Native Compatibility Mode" under Tools->Options->Debugging->General.
It's possible to use Daffodil with VS2017??
